Every once in a while, changes in life seem to accumulate. The same seems to be true for our company. Just in time for spring, we have a series of fresh things to be announced. The first one concerns kooaba itself. We are giving our baby a proper spring look, a refined product strategy, and a new home.
A new roof for our services
Since we started working with mobile visual recognition services (in 2006), the industry has developed quite a bit. We still belong to the leading companies for consumer image recognition services worldwide. And things are really heating up, partly also fueled by revivals of trends such as Augmented Reality.
What we observed is that the development was mostly driven by technology, and now, it has reached a level, where we believe an iteration in terms of service design is needed. As a consequence, we will restructure our product portfolio to be aligned with clearly defined user needs. Since the portfolio will consist not only of one product, but many, we built a new roof above them with a unifying new logo and claim.
The roof is – drum rolls – kooaba Smart Visuals. In a nutshell, kooaba gives you tools to convert standard digital images into Smart Visuals. Smart Visuals are digital images upgraded with their context, for instance.
We think this is a powerful vision. The project that started three years ago gained in clarity and in strength, which is also reflected by our new logo.

Below is a screenshot of our new web-site to come soon. Note the gray placeholders. They hide the members of our new product portfolio, which we will release in the coming months. The first one is due tomorrow, so stay tuned!
A new roof for our team
And hey, if our services get a new roof, our team should, too! So we moved offices. We are very happy with the new location (Hardturmstrasse 161, still in the booming Kreis 5 in Zurich), and the working atmosphere: bright offices with great layout. But see for yourself:
Oh and we needed new furniture: Jo, Marc and yours truly got it all from IKEA. That was exhausting, but fun. We are especially proud of the deal we got on the desks: CHF 69.- and we get compliments how cool they look!
So, kooaba is ready for the spring! And you?

This is great! All the best! Hope you grow in your new roof!
And the logo is looking good!
